A must see city
In her first one thousand years, Montalcino has been beautified with architecture: the fortress, Town Hall, the Bishop’s Palace, the old Convent of St. Augustine (today Civic and diocesan sacred art Museum) re-opened in 1977. Particularly esteemed are the churches of St. Augustine, St. Egidio and St. Francis. Among all of these, not only the shape but also the contents is worthy of mention. The Diocesan Sacred art Museum and the Archeological Museum, both preserve examples of wonderful works of art by important senese painters from the XIII-XVI century.
