Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Vigna del Fiore 2021 has been awarded 5 Grapes, the highest recognition from Bibenda | I Migliori Vini d’Italia 2027, the long-established guide published by the Fondazione Italiana Sommelier, now in its 29th edition.
For Vigna del Fiore, Fattoria dei Barbi’s cru, this is the seventh consecutive year and the eleventh time overall it has received Bibenda’s highest recognition.
Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Vigna del Fiore is produced exclusively from grapes grown in the vineyard from which it takes its name. Il Fiore is Fattoria dei Barbi’s southernmost vineyard and one of the southernmost in Montalcino: a narrow valley of pure galestro, at 350 metres above sea level, with a south/south-easterly exposure. Here, vines averaging 35 years of age are sheltered from both cold winds and the hot Sirocco, while the Ribusoli stream ensures a constant supply of water. The result is a Brunello of remarkable richness, elegance and complexity.
Vigna del Fiore 2021 is refined and elegant, with notes of small red berries, woodland undergrowth and dried tobacco. On the palate, silky, tightly knit tannins are supported by vibrant acidity, leading to a smooth and highly pleasurable finish.
